This page is currently a work in progress! I will soon fill this glossary out with all the key terms you may need to know!

  • Additive Level Design – Where the level begins as an empty space and the CSG brushes are added into the environment.
  • BSP – Binary Space partition (See CSG)
  • CSG –┬áConstructive Solid Geometry. The primitive shapes that are used to block out the main shape of your level.
  • Static Mesh – A Complex 3D model which populates the level, giving the level detail and variation. The models are typically made in a 3D program such as 3Ds Max and textured with an image editor such as photoshop.
  • Subtractive Level Design – Where the level begins as a solid mass and the CSG is subtracted from the environment.
